My long weekend writing

My shovel digs into the gravelly soil

and almost immediately hits a rock.

Dad puts the crowbar under and tells

me to pull it out again. I shovel some dirt

out of the hole. After twenty minutes the

hole is up to my torso and is getting really hard

to reach down and get the rock that has

been dug up by Dad. A rock half the size of the

hole is at the bottom. I drop the

crowbar down again and again sparks

jump off the surface of the glinting rock.  

\Another good hour later and finally the rock budges,

Dad goes and grabs a strap so we can hoist it up.

Afterward I swear angels started singing Alleluia.

Dad measures the hole to see if it’s deep

enough “I’ve got good news and bad news”

says Dad “which one do you want hear” 

“Good news first please” I say 

“Well the good news is the hole is deep enough”

“What's the bad news”

We have to dig three more”

“What all today!” 

“No today and tomorrow”

“Dammit”

4 hours earlier 

“So after the lockdown we're gonna

build a shelter for the food van”,

Dads explaining to me what we're

gonna do today for the second time today

“we need to dig holes and then after

lockdown go to Mitre 10 Mega and

get materials to build it” “Now for a break”.

Cue cards





This week we learnt about how to put cue cards after you’re writing.

Cue cards are a couple of words that help you to remember you’re speech.

I enjoyed the cue cards because they were quick and easy to make.

 I found it challenging that you could only write a few words.

 If you have ever made a cue card I would like to know what

you think about cue cards.

Amazing story

“Look! Look down there!”
His voice could just about be
heard above the sound of the
aeroplane’s engine and the shrieking wind in their ears.

“Can you see it?”

Under them a bird flew past.
As they looked down to see a little Island

“I think thats chicken nugget Island”

“What did you say?”

“I said I think thats chicken nugget Island!”

“I see it”

He leaned over a bit more it looks like
he might fall then all of a sudden he slips
and falls he makes a wild grab for the wing
of the plane and completely misses when he fall
he pulls the red cord to make his parachute go
out but the only thing that comes out is beer cans
I guess we get that for paying five dollars to go
on the plane and another five for the parachute
he thought the guy looked a bit shady no time for
that now he has to save his friend  he dives then he
realised that he isn't wearing a parachute.

MY BEST DESCRIPTIVE WRITING EVER!!!

Leafs were scattered all around.
The branches rough like the shell of a turtle.
I hear The creak of the trees.
I stroad to the lake the sunshine bouncing of it.
The smell of the  nice sent from the daisies.
A nice sky blue bird sings a perfect song.
I glance at the black bark of a great oak it’s the size of a dinosaur.

My moment in time writing

We have been learning to describe a moment in time
My goal is to put speech marks in my writing

Click! Dad turns on the light and then dad opens the curtains
i'm so annoyed. I say “five more minutes”

dad says get up!

I protest by saying but it's still dark

he says “it is always dark” so “get up!”
dad said  so I roll out of bed it hurts but It wakes me up.
I look out the window
I see the outline of trees and the dog kennel.
Sometimes It's so dark I can see my reflection.

Persuasive Writing

We have been learning how to structure a piece of persuasive writing.  We learnt about stating our position in the introduction, putting our three reasons in the main part of our writing and then summing it up in the conclusion.

Here is my first attempt at a piece of persuasive writing:

At Kumara School on rainy days we need more devices to go on because it is boring.

Firstly chromebooks are a good idea because it is a educational.

Secondly chromebooks are a good idea because we can do google slides.

Lastly you can type up something if you want to no it chromebooks look up interesting facts

I would really appreciate  if we could go on chromebooks a good idea because it's educational and you can look up learning and use google slides.
